Halloween Ends

“It was the Boogeyman.”

SPOILERS AHEAD

I really honestly enjoyed this movie and the series of reboots that came before it.  This one in particular I found to be a lot of fun even though it did change quiet a bit of Halloween Lore, and has some minor victim blaming of Laurie for the events that happened in the previous films.

The connection that Corey and Michael seem to share was in particular pretty interesting and I’d have to seen that explored a bit more. Its almost like Haddonfield poisons those who kill even accidentally and bonds them not in the same manner as the curse from the original Halloween lore but in an interesting reflection.

Corey’s descent into madness is certainly an interesting journey and its fun to watch. Sure this movies a little bit light on Michael Myers but watching him and Corey team up was really cool. Corey’s relationship with Laurie’s grand daughter was also a nice touch seeing two broken people try to love each other while one rapidly descends into pure evil.

Theres a scene where Corey who is a rather unassuming person some how over powers Michael and takes his Mask and then begins his rapid fall which that one took a bit more suspension of disbelief than most things in this franchise because again Michael is not exactly a little guy

The last bit of the movie when we finally get to see just Michael vs Laurie  is probably the greatest Michael v Laurie scene in all the various iterations in my opinion. Watching as she gets her revenge from not only her life but that of her daughter was great.

Laurie Strode is probably my #2 Final girl Jamie Lee Curtis is an OG Scream Queen for a reason. And she delivers hard in this movie.  And I’m really glad to see there is no “coming back” for Michael at least in this time line

Over all 7/10 movie I do wish they’d could have explored the weird unspoken bond Michael and Corey seemed to share but over all this was good and I’ll watch it again!
